Milton, a stray burro found in the community of Boulevard in January is now being adopted after almost a month of rehabilitation in the care of County Animal Services, officials announced.
Horses of Tir Na Nog, a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the care of horses and other equines, will be the new adopter of Milton. The organization will pick up Milton Friday from the County Animal Shelter in Bonita.
“Back in January, when Milton was found, we discovered he had several problems related to neglect. His hooves were overgrown and he needed dental work to allow him to eat properly. The veterinarian determined that one of his molars also needs to be removed,” said John Carlson, Deputy Director of Animal Services. “Animal Services has provided most of that care, although, he will need further treatment to remove the tooth and bring him up to full health.”
“We are lucky that Horses of Tir Na Nog has agreed to provide this care for Milton,” said Carlson. “As an organization that relies strictly on donations, this is a significant commitment that they chose to take on Milton’s case.”
