The state lifted a boil water order this morning in areas of Del Mar and the City of San Diego, leading the County’s Office of Emergency Services to use Alert San Diego to notify affected residents, businesses and schools.
The boil water order was issued by the cities of Del Mar and San Diego on Sunday night after the City of San Diego reported a major water main break affecting customers in the Del Mar, Carmel Valley and Sorrento Valley areas.
On Monday, the County’s Office of Emergency Services used Alert San Diego to notify thousands of residents and businesses in the affected areas that the water was unsuitable for drinking and must be boiled before use.
The County Department of Health and Human Services has not received any reports of illness caused by the boil water order.
For information, visit the Department of Environmental Health Web site, or call the department's duty desk, (619) 338-2379.
