After bees swarmed a La Mesa neighborhood, stinging half a dozen people, County entomologist David Kellum wants residents to understand such incidents are rare. But he adds it is a reminder Africanized honey bees are here in our county, and you could encounter them anywhere.
The County of San Diego does not remove bees and urges you not to try it yourself. Instead, contact a pest control company that operates in your area.
Kellum says there are steps you can take bee-proof your home and keep your family safe. Tips are provided below, as well as additional information about Africanized honey bees in English and Spanish.
