If you’ve ever driven Bear Valley Parkway at rush hour, you understand traffic congestion. That’s a problem the County of San Diego wants to solve.
County officials will meet the public at an open house at Oak Hill Elementary School in Escondido to introduce the proposed Bear Valley Parkway North Widening Project. The road is a major thoroughfare located in the unincorporated area east of Escondido and provides access to Via Rancho Parkway, San Pasqual Valley Road (SR-78), Valley Parkway, I-15, as well as area schools. The planned project runs about a mile from San Pasqual Valley Road to Boyle Avenue.
The project accommodates increased traffic demands and reduces congestion on this segment of the parkway by widening it from two lanes to four with a center median. It adds a shoulder with bike lane in each direction.
The open house is set for April 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the school’s auditorium at 1820 Oak Hill Drive, Escondido. Officials will set up topical stations related to the project, including design, general overview and timeline, environmental impact review and right-of-way. Attendees can speak with the Department of Public Works project team, ask questions and comment on the project.
