Residents in Chula Vista must register to vote by April 20 to participate in a special mail ballot election on May 5.
The only measure on the ballot is Proposition A, a proposal to increase the City of Chula Vista sales tax by one percent. Ballots were mailed to voters on April 6.
Residents need to register if they are not currently registered, have recently moved or changed their name. Forms are available on the Registrar's Web site as well the Chula Vista City Clerk’s office, the Registrar of Voters office, all U.S. Post Offices, public libraries, and the Department of Motor Vehicles offices. All forms must be postmarked or delivered to the Registrar of Voters no later than midnight on April 20, 2009. Voters can check their registration status online.
Voters can drop off completed ballots at the following locations:
- Chula Vista City Clerk’s office
276 Fourth Avenue in Chula Vista (Google Map)
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday
- County of San Diego Registrar of Voters
5201 Ruffin Road in Kearny Mesa (Google Map)
Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; until 8 p.m. on Election Day
