The County of San Diego Registrar of Voters needs the public’s help to staff poll worker positions on Election Day, Tuesday, June 3.
“We have had about 25 volunteers drop out every day, leaving positions vacant. We need people who can fill those spots and help people in the community with the voting process,” said Registrar of Voters Deborah Seiler.
Typically, about 15 percent of people who sign up to be poll workers drop out before Election Day.
Becoming a poll worker is easy. Volunteers will be paid a stipend of up to $150 and must meet some simple qualifications:
• Be registered to vote
• Attend a four-hour training class
• Have their own vehicle
• Be willing to travel to communities throughout the county
Even those who cannot attend a training class can still volunteer as precinct clerks and will be paid $75.

The Registrar of Voters is also in need of volunteers to process ballots through scanners as they are received from precincts on Election Night. People are needed from 8 p.m. to approximately 2 a.m. Volunteers will receive training prior to their assignment, and food will be provided.
