Due to a seasonal influx of animals, the County's three animal shelters are inundated with cats and will be waiving all adoption fees for cats one year and older throughout the month of June, County Animal Services Director Dawn Danielson announced today.
In addition, Animal Services has a “Better with a Buddy” program that allows a person to adopt one cat or kitten under one year at the full price of $58 and adopt a second cat or kitten for half price.
"Our three County shelters have a large number of cats right now and we figure now is a great time to adopt the purrrfect companion," said Danielson. "Our goal is to adopt out 500 cats during the month of June. We are looking for new pet parents who know that they want to add a new four-legged family member but they just haven't taken the time to visit our shelters. June is National Adopt-A-Cat month, so visit the shelter and make the commitment to adopt a pet."
In addition, each person adopting a cat or kitten during June will be given a special gift package, while supplies last. Gifts packages could include water bottles, cat toys or a calendar.
All animals will be neutered or spayed, microchipped and vaccinated prior to going home with their new family. Animals unable to be altered at the time of adoption require a $40 refundable sterilization deposit.
