An estimated 3,950 gallon sewage spill occurred today on Monticook Court in Rancho Bernardo.
The spill was caused by a sewer pump station failure. The spill entered a drainage channel that empties into Lake Hodges. Operators of the water filtration plant on the lake and the State Department of Public Health have been notified of the spill.
While there is no swimming or water contact allowed on the lake, signs warning of sewage contaminated water have been posted at the public boat dock to alert fishermen and boaters.
