County Clerk locations issued 230 licenses and performed 144 ceremonies today, the first full day licenses for same-sex marriages could be issued as directed by a recent California Supreme Court decision. The number set a local record for the most marriage licenses issued in one day, surpassing the previous high from Valentine's Day 2005.
“We are glad that the day went smoothly and that our staff could provide all couples with dignity and respect on this historic day,” said County Assessor/Recorder/Clerk Greg Smith.
Below are the totals for each branch:
| Location | Licenses | Ceremonies |
| Downtown | 168 | 112 |
| Chula Vista | 21 | 11 |
| San Marcos | 41 | 21 |
