William D. Gore was sworn in as Sheriff of San Diego County in a 9:00 a.m. ceremony at the San Diego Sheriff’s Department Headquarters on Ridgehaven Court. The Honorable William B. Enright officiated the ceremony attended by Sheriff Gore’s immediate family, local dignitaries, and members of the department.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department is the fourth largest Sheriff’s department in the nation and covers approximately 4,200 square miles. The department currently has more than 3,800 employees.

“We face challenging times in law enforcement today,” commented Sheriff Gore. “However, I am confident with the fine men and women of this department, along with the support of the County Board of Supervisors; we will continue to provide the highest levels of law enforcement services possible.”
