The County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is reporting four additional deaths associated with the pandemic H1N1 Influenza virus, including one that is not included in local statistics. The deaths are:
- A 50-year-old female with underlying medical conditions;
- A 53-year-old female with underlying medical conditions;
- A 30-year-old female with underlying medical conditions;
- And a 41-year-old female with underlying medical conditions who was visiting San Diego and will not be included in local statistics. Her death will be included in the H1N1 case counts in her state of residence.
San Diego County has had 735 confirmed cases of pandemic H1N1 Influenza to date, including 12 deaths.
The public is encouraged to stay home from work or school if they have influenza-like illness or symptoms similar to the seasonal flu which includefever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue.
If an individual with underlying medical conditions is experiencing influenza-like illness or symptoms, they should contact their primary care physician in a timely manner.
