The County of San Diego Department of Animal Services is looking for any witnesses or information regarding a dog that was stabbed more than 50 times in the Point Loma area in the early morning of Saturday, December 11.
The dog, a nine-month old, male German Shepherd was viciously stabbed in the abdomen, chest and throat. Based upon the evidence, the stabbing occurred near the intersection of Rosecrans Street and Nimitz around 4:00 a.m. or 5:00 a.m. on Saturday. The dog then staggered down Rosecrans Street leaving a trail of blood and pools of blood wherever it collapsed.
It is likely that whoever killed this dog would have blood and dog hair on their clothes and they may have been bitten or scratched by the dog.
“Whoever is responsible for this despicable crime needs to be found and held accountable,” said Dawn Danielson, the Director of the Department of Animal Services.

The San Diego Animal Advocates and In Defense of Animals organizations are offering a $4,500 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for killing the dog.
If a suspect is identified, they could face a felony animal abuse charge, punishable by imprisonment, a fine of up to $20,000 or both.
