The County Department of Animal Services will offer rabies vaccinations, dog licenses, as well as microchipping and spay/neuter coupons at the city of Encinitas Pet Health Expo on Sunday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Encinitas City Hall located at 505 South Vulcan Avenue.
“Recently, the Department reunited at least two different owners with their pets because of a microchip, so getting that microchip for your pet is of utmost importance. It could save the life of your pet,” said Dawn Danielson, Director of County Animal Services. “Enjoy the event and get your pet a shot, purchase a license and a microchip all in one spot.”
Various animal exhibitors will be on hand, plus there will be goodies, prizes and drawings. The Department will microchip pets for a one-time fee of $20, which includes the registration. Rabies vaccinations for dogs (four months or older) and cats (three months or older) are $6. Amnesty from late fees will be offered to owners who have failed to license their dog or have allowed their dog’s annual license to lapse. Spay/neuter coupons will be available, $25 for male pets, $50 for female pets.
These services are available for residents who live in our service area of the unincorporated county or the cities that contract with us, which include San Diego, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Solana Beach, Del Mar, and Santee.
For the protection of owners and their pets, dogs must be on a leash and cats and rabbits in a carrier while at the clinic. For more information, contact the County Department of Animal Services at (619) 767-2675 or visit www.sddac.com.
