Time is running short if you want to register to vote in the November 2 Gubernatorial General Election and voters can fill out their registration form online at the Registrar of Voters’ site, sdvote.com.

“Providing the voter registration form online makes the process more convenient for voters, and it also ensures that the information on the form is complete, easy to read and accurate when we enter it into our system,” said Deborah Seiler, Registrar of Voters.

Residents who want to vote should keep the following deadlines in mind:

Monday, October 18 – Deadline to Register to Vote

Residents need to fill out a registration form if they are not currently registered, would like to change their party affiliation, have recently moved or changed their name. You can fill out the form online, and then print it, sign it and mail it or deliver it to the Registrar of Voters office. The forms are also available at the Registrar of Voters office, US Post Offices, public libraries, and Department of Motor Vehicles offices.

All forms must be postmarked by October 18 to be valid for the November 2 election. The Registrar of Voters office in Kearny Mesa will remain open until 8 p.m. on October 18 to enable voters to register to vote or to drop off their completed affidavits.  Voters can also check registration status and party affiliation on the Registrar’s website.

Tuesday, October 26 – Deadline to Apply for Mail Ballot

You can find the application here (PDF) or on the back of the sample ballot and voter information pamphlet sent to each registered voter. Voters also have the option of sending a note to the Registrar of Voters with their name, residence address, name and date of the election for which a ballot is requested, the address where the ballot is to be mailed and the voter’s signature. Send forms and notes to:

Registrar of Voters
P.O. Box 85520
San Diego, CA 92186-5520

or by fax at (858) 694-2955. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on October 26.  Postmarks cannot be accepted.
