The public is invited to join San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairman Bill Horn on Saturday for the grand opening of the Fallbrook Library, a spacious state-of-the art community center designed to inspire, educate and entertain all who visit.
“The opening of the new Fallbrook Library is a milestone for Fallbrook and the result of many years of hard work and tremendous cooperation involving community leaders, our office, and County library staff,” said Chairman Horn.

Over 19,000 square feet — and twice as big as the old building — the new Fallbrook Library invites the public to linger with comfortable lounge seating, an outdoor reading garden, an expanded children’s space, study rooms and rotating and permanent art installations. A Poet’s Patio for live events and a community room will welcome diverse special programs.
“We are excited and proud to open this new sanctuary of self-directed learning, essential services, and meaningful entertainment for the community of Fallbrook,” County Library Director José Aponte said.

Updated technology makes the new library relevant and convenient. Groups can share and interact with digital content at a touch table, a tablet-style computer embedded in a desk and free wireless service provides internet access to the public. Automated checkout stations make it easy to borrow one of the 33 million books, DVDs and CDs available through the San Diego County Library system.
The library’s striking “green roof” incorporates over 500 trays of native and drought-resistant plants, which insulate the building and reduce its carbon footprint. The building achieved Silver LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification for its eco-friendly design.
C.W. Driver, Ferguson Pape Baldwin Architects, and Manuel Oncina Architects were the library’s design-build team.
The grand opening ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at 124 S. Mission Road.
