The County Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) will host 10 meetings throughout the county in September to explain how to apply for more than $11.9 million in federal community development and affordable housing funds.

The funds are from four US Department of Housing and Urban Development programs:

  • HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME): $4.2 million for affordable housing programs; administered by HCD for the unincorporated area, Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Mesa, San Marcos, Santee, and Vista.

  • Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG): More than $206,000 to improve the quality and number of emergency shelters and transitional facilities for homeless persons and to help at-risk families or individuals from becoming homeless; administered by HCD for the unincorporated area, Coronado, Del Mar, Imperial Beach, Lemon Grove, Poway, and Solana Beach.

  • Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA): $2.7 million for affordable housing and services for low-income households of people living with HIV or AIDS; administered by HCD for the entire San Diego County region.
