An estimated 1,368 gallon sewage spill occurred this morning at the intersection of Mission Center Rd. and Camino De La Reina in the Mission Valley area of San Diego.
The spill, which was caused by grease blockage, started 11:28 AM and ended at 12:20 PM when crews from the City of San Diego Waste Water Department removed the blockage.
None of the sewage was recovered so all of the estimated 1,368 gallons of sewage flowed into a storm drain that leads directly to the San Diego River.
Signs warning of sewage contamination are posted at the San Diego River outlet at Dog Beach in Ocean Beach and will remain in place until samples confirm the water is safe for recreational use.
