By County of San Diego Public Health Officer Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H.
On behalf of the County Health & Human Services Agency, I want to thank our partners at community clinics for your cooperation and diligence as the novel H1N1 virus situation continues.
We know that we will see more cases of H1N1 virus in the community, but for now it appears that cases continue to be mild.
We appreciate your efforts to stay up-to-date on the guidelines issued by the County, state and CDC. We are still prioritizing testing for the virus for hospitalized patients and high-risk groups.
When considering treatment with antiviral medication, it is important that we do not contribute to resistance. Please closely follow the CDC guidelines for treatment and chemoprophylaxis, which are posted on the center’s Web site.
Please use our public health staff as a resource if you have questions about outbreaks in your communities.
Also, continue to monitor CAHAN for developments, and feel free to e-mail us your questions, concerns and comments.
You can also find updates on Influenza-A H1N1 on the County Web site at www.sdcounty.ca.gov.
Thank you again for being valued community partners with County Public Health Services to protect the lives of San Diegans.
