Slater-Price Awards Community Projects Grants
Grants Will Support North County Libraries, District Three Community Events

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors today approved Chairwoman Pam Slater-Price's request to offer financial support to various non-profit community organizations that provide services, plan events, and manage programs throughout the county. The funds are allocated from the county's Community Projects grant program.

"I am pleased to be able to support community events such as Pacific Beach's summer concert series, the Encinitas Garden Festival, and the surfing world's famous Rob Machado Surf Classic," said Slater-Price. "Libraries, too, are a top priority of mine, which is why I've directed funds to the Solana Beach and Del Mar Libraries."

Among the organizations that will receive funds are:

  • Pacific Beach Town Council: $3,000 for their annual "Concerts on the Green" series.
  • Solana Beach Friends of the Library: $27,000 for promotional and outreach materials, development of a literacy program, continuation of their "Noches de Familia" program, presentation of several seminars, kick off of a major fundraising event, and purchase of a portable microphone and speakers.
  • Del Mar Friends of the Library: $10,000 for the replacement of exterior signage and to provide funding for their children's programs and major author events.
  • Cardiff Chamber of Commerce: $5,000 for their annual Machado Surf Classic.
  • Encinitas Chamber of Commerce: $1,000 for the Encinitas Garden Festival.
  • Pacific Life Holiday Bowl: $10,000 for marketing and promotion of the 2005 Holiday Bowl.
  • California International Young Artists Competition: $1,500 for their yearly international competition and music outreach throughout San Diego County.
  • Performing Arts Workshop: $15,000 for outreach lectures and four performances in Encinitas.
