Supervisor Slater-Price Awards Community Projects
Grants SAN DIEGO – The San Diego County Board
of Supervisors today approved Chairwoman Pam Slater-Price’s request
of financial support to various non-profit community organizations that
provide services, plan events, and manage programs throughout the county.
The funds are allocated from the county’s Community Projects grant
program.
“These organizations play a vital role in making San Diego County
a better place to live, work, and play,” said Slater-Price. “These
grants allow non-profit organizations to take care of regional needs and
provide valuable services at the community-level.”
Among the organizations that will receive funds are:
- Spirit of the Fourth, Inc: $11,000 for July parades and related events
in the Rancho Bernardo area. Spirit of the Fourth, Inc. provides North
County communities patriotic, historical, and educational activities,
which commemorate the declaration of our nation’s independence.
- Escondido Art Association: $3,000 for a collaborative “Coast
– to – Crest” art/education/environment project with
the San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy. The Escondido Art Association
advances local artists, helps provide educational opportunities to area
students, and provides a forum to display art exhibits.
- Rancho Bernardo Veteran’s Memorial Association: $3,000 to assist
with putting on Veterans programs in the Rancho Bernardo area during
holiday events and parades, as well as help purchase flags, plaques,
and other necessary materials. The Rancho Bernardo Veteran’s Memorial
Association provides color and/or honor guards for festivals, parades,
and other civic activities throughout the Rancho Bernardo area.
- San Diego Repertory Theatre: $30,000 to assist with production and
publication costs associated with the promotion of their 30th Anniversary
season. The San Diego Repertory Theatre annually provides six world-class
performing arts performances.

assistance to people with seizer disorders in the county. The San Diego
Epilepsy Foundation provides services and educational training for county
residents.
- NTC Foundation: $15,000 to commission a study to determine how to
transform the Luce Auditorium from Naval training facility into a performing
arts venue. The NTC Foundation is currently creating the NTC Promenade
– a dynamic destination for all San Diego County residents and
tourists alike by bringing arts, science, and educational programs to
one unique location.
