Slater-Price to Host Senior Health Fair in Escondido
Supervisor, Aging & Independence Services Team Up for April 17 Event
ESCONDIDO – Supervisor Pam Slater-Price, Third District, along with the City of Escondido and the County Office of Aging & Independence Services, are teaming up for a senior health fair on April 17 at the Joslyn Senior Center, called “Healthy Senior Living.”
“Healthy Senior Living” will provide a wide-variety of information to event goers, including three discussion group sessions on hot topics, including Internet use and elder fraud - as well as health screenings, fitness demonstrations and various service providers.
The event will take place in the main auditorium of the senior center, located at 210 Park Avenue, from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided through a donation from Palomar Pomerado Health.
One of the signature offerings will be the popular “Meet the Pharmacists” – which allows folks to bring in their various medications for an assessment by a pharmacist to ensure there are no potentially dangerous interactions.
“Folks who focus on healthy living will have longer, fuller lives,” Slater-Price said. “There are so many wonderful organizations out there that support this philosophy and we aim to bring them together in one location.”
The three discussion groups will focus on Healthy Aging, Lifelong Learning and Senior Safety, and will allow time for seniors to provide feedback on those issues and various County services.
