Mission Statement: To investigate allegations of improper County government activity, discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability, and to protect the complainant from any act of reprisal for reporting such allegations. Our commitment to investigate and, where appropriate, remedy the situation, will insure the continued public trust of our customers, the residents of San Diego County.

Summary: The Office of Internal Affairs investigates allegations of improper county government activity and discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability.

In addition to the investigation of complaints alleging improper County government activity and discrimination, the Office of Internal Affairs oversees the implementation of the County policy on Ethical and Legal Standards.

In the interest of reliability and credibility, anonymous complaints will not be accepted by the Office of Internal Affairs. Complaints must be signed under penalty of perjury before they are accepted and reviewed for investigation. In cases where the Office of Internal Affairs does not have jurisdiction, it will refer such complaints to other appropriate State and federal investigative agencies.
