SAN 1.

SUBJECT:

ADVERTISE AND AWARD CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF HARBISON CANYON PUMP STATION EMERGENCY GENERATOR UPGRADE (DISTRICT: 2)

  OVERVIEW:

The Harbison Canyon Pump Station was built in Alpine in 1989, and serves one elementary school and approximately forty residential dwellings in Alpine. It pumps approximately 19,000 gallons per day of raw sewage.  The emergency generator at the station is in need of upgrading to assure continued sewage pump operation in case of a power failure. Construction plans and specifications are complete.

This is a request for Board authorization to advertise and subsequently award a contract to the lowest responsible bidder for construction of a Harbison Canyon Pump Station emergency generator upgrade.  The upgrade will assure alternate emergency power to operate pumps in the event of a power failure.

  FISCAL IMPACT:

Funds for this proposal are budgeted in Alpine Sanitation District Fund.  Funding source is Sanitation District user fees collected via tax roll.  If approved, this request will result in $80,000 current year cost, no annual cost and will require no additional staff years.
