SUPERVISORS APPROVE ENERGY CONSERVATION PACAKGE
San Diego County Employees Directed to Cut Back Every Way Possible
Facing a projected $17 million increase to its electric bill this fiscal
year, the San Diego County
Board of Supervisors today approved a sweeping plan by Supervisor Ron
Roberts aimed at reducing
energy consumption at all 800 county facilities, including jails, courthouses
and health clinics, as well
as the County Administration Center downtown.
"As the region's largest employer with nearly 17,000 employees,
it's the County's responsibility to lead conservation efforts by example,"
said Roberts. "By conserving energy consumed by County government
we will be able to both make more power available to County residents
and businesses, and save taxpayer dollars being spent on electricity
bills."
