ROBERTS, COMMUNITY LEADERS BREAK GROUND ON CLAIREMONT
SKATEPARK
Supervisor Roberts joined with community leaders in Clairemont today
to break ground on a
sprawling new skate park next to the Clairemont Recreation Center.
"We're often telling our kids to say no to this and
say 'no' to that this park is definitely something our
kids can say yes to, said Supervisor Roberts, who
secured $200,000 in county funding to build the
$375,000 park."
"This happened because a great many people in Clairemont made
a commitment to give our kids something fun
and productive to do after school and on week-ends,"added Supervisor
Roberts.
The project is a partnership between the County of San Diego, City
of San Diego, the Mission Valley YMCA, the Clairemont Town Council and
the Jim and Gail Krause Family.
Also attending the groundbreaking ceremony were Clairemont Town Council
Members Dave Konstantin, Billy Paul, and Glenn Schmidt, who spearheaded
the project at the community level.
The 53,000 square-foot park will open in June.
