READY, SET, MOW!
Trade in That Old Gas Mower on April 20th

Moving to reduce the environmental impacts of gas-powered lawn
mowers, Supervisor Ron Roberts, and the San Diego County Air Pollution
Control District will co-sponsor the Third Annual Lawnmower Trade-In Event
on April 20th where county residents can trade in their gas mower and receive
a cleaner battery-powered rechargeable mower at a substantially reduced price.

According to the California Air Resources Board, the pollution caused by an average gas mower is equal to that of 40 cars on an hour-for-hour basis, and operating a gas mower for one hour produces as much pollution as driving a
new car 340 miles.

The event begins at 8 am in the north parking lot of the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, and will last until all 600 mowers are distributed. Under the program, upon trading in their gas mower, county residents will receive a voucher good for a $220 discount off the purchase of a $370 Black & Decker CMM1000 battery-powered mower, reducing the total cost to $150, including tax. Once you have traded in your mower, staff will be on hand to help you load your new mower into your vehicle. Participants must show a valid California ID as proof of San Diego County residency. Cash, check, Visa or Mastercard will be accepted.
