COUNTY TO UNVEIL UNIQUE WEB SITE FOR OLDER ADULTS,
THE DISABLED
"Network of Care" is a one-stop information tool; consumers
can personalize pages
A Web site that provides a variety of resources for seniors and the
disabled, caregivers, and service
providers, is now available to San Diego county residents, thanks to
the San Diego County Board of
Supervisors and San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency.
"Network of Care" gives users access to services such as
resource guides, information on diseases and
conditions, links to current legislation that could affect seniors and
the disabled, and more. One unique feature is
"My Record," a protected, individualized site where consumers
can place their medical history and prescriptions. Physicians may be
referred to the site by their patients.
The site -- www.sandiego.networkofcare.org -- will be launched at a
program for the Aging & Disabled Services Network to be held from
10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Radisson Hotel, 1433 Camino
Del Rio South in Mission Valley. A press conference is scheduled from
10 to 10:30 a.m. at the same location.
"I am excited that we can make this service available to the senior
and disabled residents of San Diego county, their families and caregivers,"
says Ron Roberts, chairman, San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
"Network of Care" was originally developed in Sacramento
and Alameda counties through a grant from the California Department
of Aging. Now San Diego County's Aging & Independence Services,
a department of HHSA, has had the Web site tailored to the needs of
residents here.
