San Marcos - Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn gave the "State of North County Address" today, where he announced new programs and challenge grants for community organizations. The address was delivered at California State University San Marcos where CSUSM President Gonzales introduced Supervisor Horn to the crowd. .
"I would like to issue a challenge to the North County Boys and Girls Clubs in the Fifth District," stated Horn. "For every dollar you raise within 90 days for your existing after school programs, I will match up to $10,000."
The Supervisor hit hard on the issue of crime, touting the successes of the North County Gang Task Force and the teamwork of North County's Sheriffs, District Attorneys, Probation Department and the Courts.
Stressing health and human services, Horn praised the North County Collaborative and told the crowd that the County has moved over 35,000 families from welfare to work, saving taxpayers nearly $500 million.
On the issue of traffic, Supervisor Horn said, "Commuters are being grid-locked by poor decision making on the part of State Bureaucrats. I don't care what SANDAG and Caltrans say," Horn continued to the cheering crowd. "I want State Route 76 widened all the way to I-15."
