San Diego – County Supervisor Bill Horn announced that he has challenged the Boys and Girls Club Organizations in his District to assist with their existing after school programs. In his “State of North County Address” on February 11, 2000 Supervisor Horn initiated the challenge. Horn told the audience at Cal. State San Marcos that after school programs like “Critical Hours” have helped kids stayed out of trouble and away from drugs and gangs.
“To further enhance North County’s existing after school programs, I would like to issue a challenge to the Boys and Girls Club Organizations in my district,” stated Horn. “For every dollar you raise up to $10,000 within 90 days, to enhance your existing after school programs, I will match it.”
The six Boys and Girls Club Organizations in Supervisor Horn’s District are Oceanside, North County Inland (Escondido), Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista and North County (Fallbrook). The organizations have until May 12, 2000 to reach their goals for the Supervisor Horn’s challenge.
