San Diego - County Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn announced today that the Board of Supervisors has approved a new five year lease for the Borrego Springs Library. The new site is located at the neighborhood shopping center at 500 The Mall in Borrego Springs.
"The expansion of the Borrego Springs Library has been a goal that now is being realized," stated Supervisor Bill Horn. "The existing library is 960 square feet and the new site will be 1,662 square feet with additional room for books, study areas and computers."
The new site offers advantages like more parking spaces and higher visibility. The library will be a stand alone building that is in the same shopping center as the Borrego Springs Sheriff Station. The new five year lease will also have two, five year renewal options that can be exercised. The Lessor, Cameron Brothers will now begin building the library and it should be ready for patrons by July 2000.
"We have all worked very hard to move this exciting new library project from the drawing board to the building phase," concluded Supervisor Bill Horn. "I hope, that many children in Borrego Springs will discover the joys and adventures I found as a child reading books in my neighborhood library."
