SUPERVISOR HORN MATCHES NORTH COUNTY INLAND BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB GRANT
April 6, 2000

Valley Center - San Diego County Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn announced today that he will be delivering on a promise to provide $10,000 to the North County Inland Boys and Girls Club. On February 11, 2000, Supervisor Horn issued a challenge to the six North County Boys and Girls Club Organizations with matching grants in his State of North County Address. The money will be used for the Club’s existing Critical Hours after school programs for children.

"The Critical Hours programs run by the Boys and Girls Clubs are a success," stated Supervisor Horn. "I walked into a classroom here at Lower Elementary School and asked the children if they liked the Boys and Girls Club. Their answer was a resounding chorus of praise. They love it and so do I."

On hand for the announcement was Valley Center Schools Superintendent Dr. Jeff Mulford, Boys and Girls Club Secretary Treasurer Margaret Moir and Boys and Girls Club of Inland North County Executive Director Danny Sherlock. The Valley Center Chapter of the Boys and Girls Club is located right next to the campus of Lower Elementary School.

"When we have children supervised by adults after school in a nurturing and healthy environment we give them additional tools they can use to turn away from drugs, gangs, alcohol, tobacco and violence that may be on the streets," concluded Supervisor Bill Horn.
