Valley Center - San Diego County Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn announced today that the County Board of Supervisors will purchase a 2.6-acre parcel from the Valley Center Fire Protection District for a new Sheriff Substation. The current temporary Sheriff Station in Valley Center is a doublewide trailer located on North Lake Wohlford Road.
"The Sheriff has out grown their present facility," stated Supervisor Bill Horn. "The Valley Center substation provides service to many growing communities in North County and a permanent facility will enhance their law enforcement capabilities."
Currently, the North Lake Wohlford substation provides primary law enforcement for the communities of Mount Palomar, Pala, PaumaValley, Rincon, Valley Center, Lake Wohlford and six Indian reservations. The temporary substation was occupied in 1989 on land leased from the Valley Center Fire Protection District.
"The addition of approximately 4,000 square feet to the current Valley Center Substation’s 1,400 square feet will relieve any overcrowded conditions and will be welcomed by the community," concluded Supervisor Bill Horn.
