San Diego - San Diego County Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn announced that the Board of Supervisors has voted to begin a preliminary engineering study to determine the feasibility of widening approximately three miles of Cole Grade Road in Valley Center.
"This is a hilly section of road that has had its share of accidents and bad luck," stated Supervisor Horn. "Residents have been looking for a solution and I want to thank my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors for considering my proposal."
At the Board of Supervisors August 3, 1999 meeting, construction was approved for improvements to 3,800 feet of Cole Grade Road. These improvements currently under construction are widening the designated section of road to include a continuous left hand turn lane. Supervisor Horn's proposal for a new preliminary study would look at expanding the current construction of the turn lane from Fruitvale Road, all the way past the High School.
"This widening project will save lives and help ensure the safety of residents and staff at the High School," concluded Supervisor Horn.
