COUNTY SUPERVISORS NAME TODAY: CASA DE AMPARO DAY

San Diego - San Diego County Fifth District Supervisor Bill Horn announced that today be recognized as, "Casa de Amparo Day" though out the entire County. Supervisor Horn proudly presented the County Proclamation to Gloria Foote, Chairperson of Casa's Board and Sharon Delphenich Casa's Executive Director, at the Board of Supervisor's meeting.

"Casa de Amparo, has provided North County's at risk children with shelter and wonderful services, in an effort to help break the cycle of family violence," stated Supervisor Horn. "The nurturing programs provided by Casa de Amparo, have truly constructed a, house of refuge for neglected and abused children from birth to 17 years old."

Casa operates a 24-hour Crisis Center for children, a Child Development Center that provides daycare for at risk children under 5, a Wellness Center and they also provide In-home services for families whose children have returned home. About 250 abused children are sheltered in the Crisis Center annually and since it's inception almost 6,000 children have found refuge at Casa de Amparo.

"Along with thanking Casa's staff for the great work they are doing," continued Supervisor Horn. "I would like to express my gratitude to Casa's donors, local volunteers, students, trainees and interns who volunteer at Casa de Amparo helping children, families and the community."
