
As Chief of Staff, Geoff is Supervisor Jacob's senior political and policy advisor. In addition, he supervises legislative activities, oversees day-to-day operations of the office, manages the staff and serves as the liaison to other branches of government.
Geoff is the former executive director of the San Diego County Taxpayers Association, a non-profit organization dedicated to government efficiency and fiscal responsibility. A former planning commissioner, Geoff has been active in San Diego public affairs for many years and served as one of the lead political strategists behind the voter-approval of Petco Park, the downtown home of the San Diego Padres.
Geoff cut his teeth as a communications aide to California Governor Pete Wilson in Sacramento then he went on to manage public affairs projects for a San Diego-based public affairs and public relations firm in both Sacramento and San Diego where he supervised several successful election campaigns.
During the dot.com boom, Geoff spent two years in the Silicon Valley with Weber Shandwick Worldwide, a public affairs and public relations firm specializing in technology, consumer and life science clients. While in the bay area Geoff served on the Planning Commission in the City of Cupertino.
While running the San Diego County Taxpayers Association in 2002, Geoff was appointed by San Diego’s Mayor to serve on the Citizens' Task Force on Chargers Issues to help develop a fiscally responsible solution to keeping the San Diego Chargers in San Diego. He also served as a member of the San Diego Unified School District's Independent Citizen Oversight Committee which oversees the implementation of a $1.51 billion school construction and modernization bond.
In October of 2003 Geoff's Tierrasanta home was among the thousands of homes throughout San Diego County that was lost in the Cedar Fire. Geoff and his wife Christine later returned to the Tierrasanta community and in 2005 welcomed the birth of a daughter, Abigail and in 2007 a second daughter, Kara.
Geoff, named by San Diego Magazine in 2003 as one of San Diego's "50 People to Watch," holds a degree in political science and public service from the University of California at Davis.
