Darren currently serves as Supervisor Roberts' Chief of Staff, where he directs a talented and
dedicated staff of policy experts and field representatives. He is responsible for the day-to-day
operations of the office as well as the implementation of Supervisor Roberts' ambitious agenda
for County government.
Darren doubles as the Supervisor's point person to the media, where he is charged with providing the
public with an accounting of Supervisor Roberts' activities and achievements through television, radio,
print and Internet media.
Additionally,
Darren works with Supervisor Roberts in crafting major speeches. He
also has developed several policy initiatives, including a proposal to
rid the County’s investment pool of tobacco stocks, and pursuing State
legislation that would give parents access to the criminal records of
daycare workers.
In 2003, Darren took a leave of
absence to work on Arnold Schwarzenegger's campaign for Governor of
California. He served as media liaison for Maria Shriver and also
coordinated election day media coverage at the Schwarzenegger's polling
place in Pacific Palisades.
Apart from work, Darren was
instrumental in the creation of the popular Ice Rink at Horton Square
downtown, the proceeds of which benefit Children's Hospital. He also is
part of a group of San Diego State graduates who are working to enhance
the university’s Journalism Department.
Darren received a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from San
Diego State University, with a minor in Political Science. He resides
in Escondido with his wife Kimberly.
