| What is my position on the employment list? |
| Your position on the list depends on the number of candidates who apply and are hired, waive, etc. This is subject to change weekly.

| When will I be hired? |
| When a County department has a vacancy, DHR will provide that department with the names, in alphabetical order, of top ranking applicants on the employment list. The number of names provided depends on the number of vacancies to be filled. The applicants will also receive a notice stating that the department is considering them for employment.

| Which location will I be working at? |
| This depends on the particular vacancy and the position, as well as the locations you have chosen on your application.

| I have submitted my application - what happens next? |
| After submitting your application, the evaluation process begins. The evaluation is designed to assess applicants' job-related knowledge, skills and abilities.

| Where or how can I prepare for the test and are there study guides? |
| No study guides are available through the County. Check the job announcement for knowledge, skills and abilities areas that will be covered on the test. Some reference materials are available from the public library.

| Can I reschedule for another test date and can I test out-of-state? |
| Yes, you can reschedule for another test date, depending on the reason. Contact the analyst on the job announcement to make this request. You can also test out-of-state. Contact the analyst on the job announcement and they will make the appropriate arrangements and accommodations, if necessary.

| Can I transfer employment from another County? |
| Generally, no. However, there are a limited number of positions where you must go through the application process, but may not have to take a test.

| Is there a written test for every recruitment? |
| No, there isn't. The evaluation process may be any one or a combination of the following:

| How do I obtain a typing certificate? |
| Typing certificates can be obtained from continuing education centers located throughout the County. For a listing, please stop by the Department of Human Resources, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 207, San Diego.

| Do I have to complete a separate application for each job I'm interested in? |
| Yes, at the present time, you do, since different analysts and departments review applications for different positions. In the future, there will be online capability to submit applications, when the privacy and protection of applicants' online information can be guaranteed.

| Where can I submit my application? |
| There are two offices
which can receive applications at the present time: one in the city of San Diego and
one in North County. Applications may be mailed in, as long as they are received and
