Irrigation Zoning and Groundcovers

April showers bring May flowers.  But after that, you’re on your own here in San Diego .

Beyond the beginning of spring, your garden is not going to get much irrigation from the sky here in our arid climate.  Hence, irrigation from garden sprinklers plays a key role in your plants’ survival, and you can save a lot of money on your water bill with a few water-saving design concepts.

We’ll show you one that involves splitting your garden into water-use ‘zones’, and help you with a common irrigation accident, the broken pipe.  Then it’s back to the plants as we introduce you to a group that survives on air and water alone, tillandsias.

Also, Tom shows us some of the best groundcover plants for Southern California.

Finally, we introduce you to the amazing concrete treatment known as acid staining.  Tom shows off his acid-stained driveway, and then turns the sprayer on a $45 concrete bench for a beautiful and easy transformation.
