West Nile Virus (WNV), a mosquito-borne disease, was first found in San Diego County in 2003. As this is a new virus in the County, it is hard to predict how the virus will behave each year. The County of San Diego Vector Control Program protects the health, safety, and well-being of all residents. Vector Control staff monitor and control WNV by trapping, testing and killing mosquito larvae. For any questions regarding the County’s fight against WNV, please contact the Vector Control Program at (888) 551-INFO (4636) or vector@sdcounty.ca.gov.
