Hello everyone. In April 2009 we started re-organizing and improving our Web site to make it easier for you, our customers, to use and to find what you're looking for.

You may have already noticed our latest improvement. Our department is now on Twitter. For those of you who are already taking part in the Twitter "social media" movement, we'd love to have you "follow" us so you can get all the latest DPLU news as we "tweet" it.

But even if you don't have your own Twitter page, ours will provide you with an easy way to follow what we're doing and learn about important services you can use.

That's because our Twitter page is essentially an electronic bulletin board filled with DPLU news. All you have to do is bookmark our Web site and click on the blue Twitter icon and you're in the loop! And because all the headlines we "tweet" will be linked to something our our Web site, you'll be able to discover cool new online tools, the place where we post Planning Commission agendas, or news about how we're improving services --- all with the click of a mouse.

We will continue to revamp parts of our Web site to make it a better tool for our customers. In addition to our Twitter page, we've added other features. For example, we've created an "A-Z Services/Divisions" page where customers can find links to our most popular pages; improved our "Communities/Advisory Groups" page to include descriptions and information; and created "Online Services" and "How to, I Want to" links to important services. We've also created: a "Developer Deposits Accounts Balances" page so customers can track their accounts; "Unclaimed Refunds" and "Billing Work-items Explained" pages for Developer Deposits; and a link to request Code Enforcement's "Service Issue Resolution," which allows some customers to sit and talk about their issues with senior managers.

If you have comments or suggestions, please send them to DPLU’s Public Affairs Officer, Gig Conaughton, at gig.conaughton@sdcounty.ca.gov. These days, Web sites are probably the single most powerful tool for agencies to use to disseminate information and make life easier for customers. We want to make sure the Department of Planning and Land Use is doing that to the best of our ability.
