Building Forms and Handouts

This site provides handouts for various types of applications filed with the Building Division of the Department of Planning and Land Use.  Specific questions should be directed to the Building Division at (858) 565-5920.

Many of the forms listed below are Adobe Acrobat PDF documents and require the Adobe Acrobat Reader for viewing.  The Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free from Adobe at ADOBE.COM/ACROBAT.

Some of the form packages listed below are in ZIP file format, an industry standard for archiving e-files. If you are not using Microsoft Windows XP, you will have to use ZIP software such as WinZip to open the package.  WinZip is available at WINZIP.COM.

Permit applications for all permit types are not available electronically.  Paper copies are available at the Building Division office.  Directions to the Building Division office are available HERE.

Additionally, information about contractors licensed in California is available online at the California State License Board web site at CSLB.CA.GOV.

* The grading plan template (consisting of two files) available above is the most current and only valid version.  Grading plans will not be accepted at the DPLU Building counters unless drawn on this version of the unmodified template.  Out-of-date or modified grading templates cannot be accepted at the Building counters.  Please contact the County Building Division at 858-565-5920 for more information.
