SEC. 91.1.113.1. UNLAWFUL TO VIOLATE COUNTY BUILDING CODE, COUNTY ELECTRICAL CODE, COUNTY PLUMBING CODE AND COUNTY MECHANICAL CODE

SEC. 91.1.113.2.     DUTY TO CORRECT VIOLATION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purpose of the Uniform Building Code is to provide minimum standards to safeguard life or limb, health, property and public welfare by regulating and controlling the design, construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and maintenance of all buildings and structures within this jurisdiction and certain equipment specifically regulated.

The following helps demonstrate the wide scope of issues that Code Enforcement enforces:

Structures built without permits

Electrical or plumbing installation without permits

Certain signs without permits

Tenant improvements

Change of building occupancy

Dangerous, vacant buildings

NOTE: If you are a tenant living in a unit where you feel that there are health and safety violations such as broken windows, screens; inoperable heating, plumbing or electrical or sewage disposal systems, please call the Department of Environmental Health at (858) 505-6700. When you call, wait to speak to the phone operator so that your call can be routed appropriately.
