General Plan Update Draft Environmental Impact Report - Public Review Begins!!
The County of San Diego has completed a critical step in the General Plan Update. The Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the General Plan Update has been released for a 60-day public review and Comment period, beginning July 1, 2009 through 4:00 pm, August 31, 2009. Also released for public review are the revised draft General Plan Regional Elements, draft Community/Subregional Plan revisions, the draft Implementation Plan and responses to the comments received on the draft General Plan released on November 14, 2008.
This draft EIR and draft General Plan can also be reviewed at the Department of Planning and Land Use (DPLU), Project Processing Counter, 5201 Ruffin Road, Suite B, San Diego, California 92123 (8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday) and at any County library in the unincorporated areas of San Diego County.

Progress Report to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors
Staff gave progress reports to the Planning Commission on May 8, 2009 and to the Board of Supervisors on May 13, 2009, and the reports are located below. Video from the Board of Supervisors is available from the Clerk of the Board’s website. The Draft Statements of proceedings are available from the Clerk of the Board, and will be updated to reflect the adopted Statements of Proceedings following the meeting on June 17, 2009.
Advisory Group Meetings
A Steering Committee Meeting has been scheduled for 9:00 am, June 27, 2009, in the DPLU Employee Lunchroom and an Interest Group Meeting has been scheduled for 10:30 am, June 30, 2009, in room 302/303 at the County Administration Center. The purpose of the meetings is to discuss the upcoming Public Review of the Draft General Plan, Draft Environmental Impact Report, Draft Community Plans, and Implementation Plan. Interactive Mapping Application - General Plan Update Alternatives
The Department of Planning and Land Use has made an interactive Mapping Application available, where users can input a parcel number or address and view each of the General Plan Alternatives for any property in the unincorporated County of San Diego. Please see Proposed Land Use Maps for more information.
Environmental Review
The General Plan Update has created a new Environmental Review page that will contain information on the Environmental Impact Report. Recently added is the Notice of Preparation, the Public Scoping Meeting and the Comments Received on the Notice of Preparation.
