Project Update

The General Plan Update is currently working on Drafting the Regional Elements, outlined in our Project Schedule.  Technical review has begun on a few of the General Plan Update's Draft Elements. A lot of progress has been made on the Land Use Element through coordination with the Steering Committee, the Interest Group, and PBS&J. A revised draft is anticipated for mid-April.

Environmental Impact Report Update

The Environmentally Superior Alternative is almost complete, and will be presented at the upcoming stakeholder group meetings on April 18th and 19th.  After that time they will be available on our website under the Proposed Land Use Alternatives. With completion of the Environmentally Superior Alternative, all initial map alternatives are now complete and undergoing modeling and analysis. Initial preparation of the EIR has also begun. Keep your eyes out for the EIR Notice of Preparation, which we plan to publish in late April.

Interest Group Meeting

An Interest Group meeting has been scheduled for April 18, 2008. The focus of the meeting will be to present the revised Draft Land Use Element, and the Environmentally Superior mapping alternative, furthermore a status on the General Plan update will be provided. The meeting will be at the County Administration Center, Room 302/302, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101; 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm.

Steering Committee Meeting

A Steering Committee meeting has been scheduled for April 19, 2008. The focus of the meeting will be to present the revised Draft Land Use Element, and the Environmentally Superior mapping alternative.  Furthermore, a status on the General Plan update will be provided. The meeting will be held in the DPLU Employee Lunchroom (east side of the building), 5201 Ruffin Road, San Diego, CA 92123;  9:00 am - 12:00 noon.

Community Meetings

General Plan Update staff has been giving updates to each Community Planning and Sponsor Group from January to April 2008.  The times and dates are located on our Website.
