The existing general plan consists of multiple documents containing regional elements and community/subregional plans.
Land Use Element
Designates the general location and intensity of housing, business, industry, open space, education, public buildings and grounds, waste disposal facilities and other land uses.
Circulation Element
Identifies the general location and extent of existing and proposed major roads, transportation routes, terminals, and other public utilities and facilities. It must be correlated with the land use element.
Housing Element
Comprehensive assessment of current and projected housing needs for all economic segments of the community and region. It sets forth local housing policies and programs to implement those policies.
Conservation Element
Addresses the conservation, development, and use of natural resources including water, forests, soils, rivers, and mineral deposits.
Open Space Element
Details plans and measures for preserving open space for natural resources, the managed production of resources, outdoor recreation, public health and safety, and the identification of agricultural land.
Noise Element
Identifies and appraises noise problems within the community and forms the basis for distributing new noise-sensitive land uses.
Public Safety Element
Establishes policies and programs to protect the community from risks associated with seismic, geologic, flood, and wildfire hazards.
Energy Element
Provides direction on energy related matters.
Public Facility Element
Addresses both the issue of facility provision for new development, and the adequacy of public facilities for current residences.
Recreation Element
Provides policies for the provision of recreational facilities. Indicates the general location of all existing parks and the parks that have been indicated on all adopted city plans.
Scenic Highway Element
Establishes a Scenic Highway Program to protect and enhance the County's scenic, historic, and recreational resources within a network of scenic highway corridors.
Seismic Safety Element
Identifies and evaluates hazards, and establishes policies to guide efforts to minimize the risk from these hazards.
