The Department of Public Works Engineering Services Division continually strives to maintain and improve our public infrastructure. Capital improvement projects include roads, bridges, wastewater and stormwater systems, and other projects that serve the public good and help to ensure safe and thriving communities. The listing below is a small sampling of some of the major projects being planned, already in the works, or recently completed.
Upcoming Projects:
The Bear Valley Parkway North Road Widening Project will convert a two-lane roadway to four lanes, with the addition of bike lanes, sidewalks and other improvements.
The Wing Avenue Channel Flood Control Improvement Project will improve channel capacities by expanding the current flood control channel, adding box culverts and vegetation.
Recently Completed:
The Jamacha Blvd. Widening Project added additional lanes of travel improving traffic flow and safety. The roadway was also paved with rubberized asphalt concrete which is quieter and lasts longer.
The South Santa Fe Avenue North Road Improvement Project completed the four-lanes of highway that connect the cities of San Marcos and Vista. Other improvements included addition of sidewalks and bicycle lanes, water and sewer lines, drainage and placing utility lines underground.
