Once again County Airports teamed up with the U.S. Marine Corps in its annual Toys For Tots campaign that collects new, unopened and unwrapped toys for distribution to children whose parents may not be able to afford Christmas gifts. Toys were delivered to Ramona Airport and Fallbrook Airpark by every means imaginable. They came by car, truck, van, bicycle, and yes, as would be expected, airplane. Several pilots loaded up their private aircraft and flew toys in from distant locations from around the County. U.S. Marines were stationed at Ramona Airport and Fallbrook Airpark for temporary assignments on two Saturdays in December where they collected toys and then loaded them into military trucks and ultimately transferred to Santa's sleigh.
Thanks to everyone who donated, help collect, and flew in the toys. You made Christmas just a bit brighter for scores of children once again.
Boxes of toys await pickup by U.S. Marines at Ramona Airport December 7. The airport event collects more toys than any other location in San Diego, except for the San Diego Chargers game with 60,000 fans present.
