Wastes generated from carpet and drape cleaning activities are among the many common stormwater pollutants that can degrade water quality. Carpet, drape, and upholstery cleaning activities generate a variety of wastes. Rinse water containing soap and other cleaners contain phosphorus that fertilize aquatic algae which can degrade water quality. It is illegal to dispose of wash water containing pollutants to the storm drain system!
