Wastes generated from mobile washing and detailing are among the many common stormwater pollutants that can degrade water quality. Mobile detailing activities generate a variety of wastes. Soap and cleaners contain phosphorus that fertilize aquatic algae which can degrade water quality. It is illegal to dispose of wash water containing pollutants to the storm drain system!

BMPs are techniques or controls used to prevent or reduce the discharge of pollutants, such as soaps and other cleaners, into the stormwater conveyance system also known as the storm drain system.
