Part of the County of San Diego’s Strategic Energy Plan is to not only increase the efficiency of its structures, but also to procure energy more cheaply. The County will investigate the possibility of purchasing utilities such as water, power, sewage and natural gas from other sources and monitor legislation affecting energy supply and transmission. Consultants with expertise in energy procurement will advise about how to lower total utility rates to at least 2 percent better than the utility bundled rates. Finally, the County will investigate the possibility of installing money saving facilities like power cogeneration plants or solar panels.
